As the land is divided among the tribes, the territory assigned to the tribe of Benjamin includes the cities of Gibeon, Ramah, and Beeroth.

Within this inheritance, Gibeon holds a unique status. It was already a fully established and populated city when the land was distributed. Rather than being emptied or resettled, the city kept its original inhabitants. They were permitted to remain in their homes, but they did so living strictly under the control and authority of the Israelites [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
