Once the immediate danger of the pursuers passes, a critical mission resumes. Jonathan and Ahimaaz emerge from the well where they had been hiding and hurry to deliver a fateful warning. They make their way to David and provide a complete report of everything that has unfolded in Jerusalem.

Understanding the severe threat, the messengers urge David to cross the waters of the Jordan River as quickly as possible. This extreme urgency stems directly from the strategy proposed by Ahithophel. His plan was to strike and destroy David and his followers right in their current location, catching them completely off guard before they have any time to organize or prepare for battle.
