The sons of the founding father of Gibeon settled together with him in his city [מצודת דוד]. The family lineage began with the firstborn son, Abdon, and continued with the rest of his brothers: Zur, Kish, Baal, and Nadab [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. A comparison with a parallel genealogy found later in the book reveals a slight variation in the family record. In the later account, an additional son named Ner is listed between Baal and Nadab, whereas he is entirely omitted from this initial list [רד"ק, מלבי"ם].
