Defining clear borders and explicitly naming the individuals responsible for distributing the land, namely Eleazar the priest, Joshua, and the tribal leaders, serves a vital practical purpose. Furthermore, identifying these specific leaders acts as a testament to the accuracy of prophecy, as not a single one of these designated men died before the distribution of the land was fully completed [רלב״ג].

The divine command also marks a shift in the status of the tribes of Gad and Reuben. At this stage, God's decision to grant them their inheritance on the eastern side of the Jordan River becomes absolute. It is no longer a conditional offer but a finalized reality.
