זכריה, פרק י״ד, פסוק ט׳

Zechariah 14:9Sefaria

At the end of days, humanity will experience a profound awakening, replacing centuries of confusion, division, and conflicting beliefs with a clear and absolute recognition of the Creator. A global shift in consciousness will unite all of creation around a single truth, transforming both how God is understood and how He is addressed by the world.

Following a series of visible miracles, nations everywhere will abandon their false deities. They will recognize God's active guidance in the world and willingly accept His rule, acknowledging Him as the one and only sovereign governing everyone [אבן עזרא]. This profound realization of Divine leadership will extend far beyond the human race. In the future, as the earth fills with deep awareness, God's precise, individual care will apply to every species in creation. Even the animal kingdom will be elevated, returning to the high spiritual state it possessed at the dawn of creation [אהבת יהונתן].

This era will mark the absolute end of all forms of idolatry. Nations that previously believed in dual powers, or those that acknowledged God but believed He shared control with other forces, will finally arrive at a pure, unclouded recognition of His true and exclusive unity [מלבי״ם].

The universal recognition of God will also fundamentally change how He is spoken of, bringing an end to the fractured ways humanity worships. The primary approach among commentators is that all names of false gods will be completely erased from human memory, leaving only the name of God on the lips of humanity. Today, even those who believe in Him use different names, which has led to the formation of separate religions and ongoing disputes. In the future, there will be universal agreement and a single, clear language of faith [ביאור שטיינזלץ, אברבנאל].

Another perspective explains this shift on a deeper philosophical level. Currently, humanity refers to God using various titles based on His different actions and attributes, such as judgment, kindness, or mercy. This multitude of descriptions can create the illusion that God possesses fragmented traits or multiple forces. In the future, however, His guidance of the world will be revealed as entirely simple, unified, and singular. As a result, He will be known solely by His explicit, four-letter proper name made known by Moses. This name will be pronounced by everyone exactly as it is written, free from any additional titles or descriptions [אבן עזרא, רד״ק, מלבי״ם, אברבנאל].
