The architectural layout of the Sanctuary is presented with precise measurements, offering a clear vision of its entrance and inner space. The measurement begins with the open space of the main entrance, spanning from north to south, which measures exactly ten cubits across [רד״ק, אברבנאל, מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Flanking this central opening are the side walls, which include the solid structure and the thickness of the doorposts [מצודת ציון, ביאור שטיינזלץ, מצודת דוד]. The primary approach among commentators is that these side sections are mathematically consistent with the overall proportions of the building. Because the entire width of the Sanctuary is twenty cubits, and the central entrance takes up ten cubits, the remaining space is divided equally. This leaves exactly five cubits for the walls on either side of the doorway.

Moving past the entrance, the dimensions of the inner space of the Sanctuary are established. Its total length, stretching from east to west, is forty cubits, while its width from north to south spans twenty cubits [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
