The military campaign led by Shishak into the Kingdom of Judah was driven by a desire for plunder rather than a goal of permanent conquest. Although the invading forces successfully captured a series of fortified cities along their path, taking full control of the entire country was never the actual intent. In fact, the invading army likely lacked the necessary strength to maintain a complete takeover of the land.

Instead, the ultimate target was the capital. Pushing forward to Jerusalem was a highly calculated and profitable move. The primary motivation for advancing directly on the city was to seize the vast wealth and treasures that had been carefully amassed there by King Solomon.
