The verbal assault from the Assyrian empire continues to escalate. The messengers of the King of Assyria press forward with their attack, directing their hostility both toward heaven and toward the King of Judah. The servants of the Assyrian king speak even more words against their targets [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The actual content of these additional statements is made up of harsh insults and blasphemy [מצודת דוד]. These offensive remarks are aimed directly at God and at His servant, Hezekiah.
