At the same time, the capital settled into a deep calm, finally resting from the previous unrest [מצודת ציון]. The transition of power did not spark further conflict. With Athaliah dead, she had no remaining loyalists to incite riots or fight for her legacy [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
