King Amon's reign is defined by a deep and final spiritual break from the traditions of his ancestors. He reached a state of total separation, completely disconnecting himself from the path of God [רלב״ג]. This absolute abandonment highlights a tragic contrast between him and his father. Although King Manasseh also committed grave sins during his rule, he ultimately repented and humbled himself before God. Amon, however, walked away from God entirely and never returned in repentance [מלבי״ם].
