The burial of King Amon and the immediate transfer of power mark the official end of his rule. He was laid to rest in a grave that he had already managed to prepare and dig for himself during his lifetime [מצודת דוד].

The chosen location for his burial, the garden of Uzza, highlights a continuation of his family line, as this was the exact same place where his father, King Manasseh, had been buried before him [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Once the burial was complete, his son Josiah took his place on the royal throne.
