David's family expanded significantly after he established his capital in Jerusalem. The record of the children born to him in the city contains several unique features, both in how the individuals are ordered and in how the group compares to other historical accounts. The first son mentioned is Shamua, who is also known as Shimea in other records. However, his placement at the beginning of the list does not mean he was the oldest. The names are not presented in chronological order based on when they were born. In reality, Solomon was the first son born to David among this specific group [מצודת דוד].

When reviewing the complete family roster provided here, there is a notable difference from the parallel account found in the book of Samuel. This specific record includes two additional sons, Eliphelet and Nogah, who are entirely absent from the earlier historical text [רלב״ג].
