A double promise is given to the family of David, connecting the construction of the Temple with the eternal survival of his royal dynasty. This assurance is directed specifically at the son who will eventually succeed David and continue his path [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The destiny to build the Temple is meant exclusively for this heir, as the privilege of bringing greater honor to God's name through the construction of His House is reserved solely for him [מצודת דוד].

The guarantee of an everlasting kingdom extends far beyond the lifetime of the son who completes the building. It serves as a permanent promise that the royal throne will remain secure and stable for his descendants throughout all future generations [מצודת דוד].
