דברי הימים א, פרק י״ז, פסוק י״ט

King David stands in absolute awe before the promises made to him by God. He recognizes that the immense good showered upon him does not stem solely from his own personal merit, but rather from divine grace and a sweeping historical plan. He offers deep gratitude for the very fact that God has chosen to reveal His will and share a vision of the future.

The promises granted to David flow entirely from God's free will [רש״י]. In a moment of profound humility, David acknowledges that even if God acted for the sake of His servant, the ultimate driving force behind these blessings is God's own heart and desire [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. David admits that his own good deeds are simply not enough to justify such an overwhelming abundance. If not for God's pure goodness and free will, none of this would have come to pass [מצודת דוד].

God chose to reveal this greatness directly to David, presenting it as though it were a reward for his actions [מצודת דוד]. However, this revelation carries a much deeper and broader significance. As with all prophecy, the ultimate purpose of sharing this knowledge is to uncover God's hidden will, guiding all of humanity toward its final perfection at the end of days. God shares this future plan with His servant so that the entire world will eventually recognize His greatness. This greatness is clearly seen in how God masterfully connects and directs every cause and effect in reality, guiding history from its very beginning to its ultimate conclusion [מלבי״ם].
