This repetition is far more than a simple statistic; it points to an extraordinary event that took place within the camp. The primary approach among commentators is that this repetition highlights a massive miracle. Twenty days passed between the day the census was taken and the day the Israelites began their journey. Despite the immense size of the nation, not a single person died during that entire period. They set out on their travels with the exact same number of people that had been counted originally [רבנו בחיי, אבן עזרא].

Beyond the mere survival of such a vast multitude, there is an additional layer to this miracle regarding their physical condition. Every individual who was counted remained entirely fit for military service. Not one person fell ill or suffered any physical disability during those twenty days [מלבי״ם].
