When the king of Judah cries out for help, God answers his prayer without delay. The resulting rescue unfolds in a completely miraculous manner. God responds exactly as Asa requested, stepping in to directly strike the opposing Cushite army [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Because the enemy's downfall is brought about straight from God, the victory is secured without Asa or his soldiers needing to engage in any physical combat. Overwhelmed by this divine strike, the Cushite forces simply turn and flee for their lives [מלבי״ם].
