II Kings 22:6Sefaria

Repairing a sacred space requires both skilled labor and high-quality materials. The funds dedicated to restoring the Temple are carefully allocated to cover every aspect of the renovation, ensuring that the physical structure is properly maintained.

The primary approach among commentators is that there is a precise division of labor among the workers involved in the project. The budget first pays the artisans who cut and shape the wood into its required forms. Once the wood is prepared, the builders take over, integrating these wooden pieces directly into the walls of the structure. Working right alongside them are the masons, who are specifically tasked with constructing the stone walls and outer enclosures.

Beyond compensating the professionals for their labor, the collected funds are also used to purchase the raw materials themselves. This includes buying the necessary wood as well as hewn stones, which are freshly quarried and cut directly from their natural source. Ultimately, all these financial resources, skilled workers, and raw materials are brought together for one unified purpose: to strengthen and fully restore the Temple.
