This complete tranquility will reach its peak at the end of David's life and continue into the reign of his son Solomon, who will be a man of peace [מלבי״ם]. David himself, who became king at thirty and ruled for forty years until the age of seventy [צאינה וראינה], cannot build the Temple in his old age. His life was defined by war and the shedding of blood, whereas the Temple is the ultimate symbol of peace and rest [מלבי״ם].
