Once the raw stone was extracted, it was handed over to the craftsmen of stone and wood, whose responsibility was to carefully carve and shape the rough materials into their final forms [מלבי״ם]. This group of artisans was a diverse mix, bringing together Israelite laborers with experts from Tyre and Gebal [רלב״ג].

Beyond the basic extraction and shaping, the project required refined artistry. To complete the workforce, David appointed master craftsmen and experts highly skilled in every type of specialized trade, woodwork, and intricate design required for the building [מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
