The human mind was designed as a tool for achieving wisdom and deep understanding. However, when this profound intellectual power is hijacked for negative purposes, it ultimately destroys a person's reputation and standing in society. An individual who dedicates their mental energy to planning harm is actively plotting against others. When the mind is occupied with such plotting, it usually points to a pattern of improper and unworthy thoughts [מלבי״ם]. This represents a tragic abuse of intellect. Rather than using their mental capacity for personal growth and wisdom, this person misuses it to invent new ways to damage and bring ruin to other people [עמנואל הרומי].

Because society does not usually tolerate open acts of malice, this individual must operate in the shadows. Their thoughts become deep, highly complex, and twisted, carefully designed to execute specific deceitful plans meant to extract personal profit at the expense of others [מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ, אלשיך].

The primary consequence for such behavior is a severe social penalty. Eventually, the public sees through the facade, recognizes the malice in the person's heart, and brands them with a derogatory label. They become known as a master of deceit, trickery, and wicked advice [רש״י, אבן עזרא]. Instead of earning respect as a wise intellectual, the individual is permanently marked as a shrewd fraud [עמנואל הרומי]. Furthermore, this damaging social label attaches to the schemer regardless of their actual success. The sheer depth of their malicious planning guarantees that their shameful intentions will eventually be exposed. They will be forever categorized as a person of wicked thoughts, even if their harmful plans are never actually carried out [מצודת דוד, אמרי דעת].
