Enemies and informers often operate in the shadows, crafting their destructive schemes through deep secrecy and mental cunning. These adversaries actively seek out ways to cause harm. One approach explains that they search their own hearts to formulate words of injustice, wrongdoing, and deceit [רד״ק, אבן עזרא, המאירי וביאור שטיינזלץ]. Alternatively, they are looking for specific excuses and false pretexts to justify causing injury or death [רש״י, מצודת ציון ומצודת דוד].

The pursuit of these dark plans is intense and exhaustive. The primary approach among commentators is that the enemies complete a thorough search, leaving nothing to chance in their plotting [רד״ק, אבן עזרא, מצודת ציון, המאירי והמלבי״ם]. Taking a different angle based on ancient manuscripts, [רש״י] explains that the focus is on concealment rather than completion. In this view, the enemies bury their scheme deep within, keeping it entirely hidden from the outside world. Adding a spatial dimension to this concept, [המלבי״ם] notes that the plotting targets the specific places most suitable for a search. This level of secrecy is so absolute that any outsider attempting to uncover who is behind the scheme will completely exhaust their efforts without ever finding the truth [האלשיך].

Ultimately, the true space where this plotting takes place is the deepest recesses of the human mind. Once the enemies settle on their evil advice, each individual buries it within his inner thoughts. It is hidden so profoundly in the deep heart that no one else can possibly notice it or investigate its depths [רד״ק, מצודת דוד, רש י והמאירי].
