עמוס, פרק ה׳, פסוק ד׳

A divine call offers a sudden lifeline and a glimmer of hope in the middle of a devastating reality. Against a backdrop of mass death, it becomes clear that God has not turned into an enemy of His people. Instead, His true desire is to grant them life. Even though a harsh decree has already been issued and many have perished, God promises that the surviving remnant can be saved and continue to live in their land if they turn back to Him [אבן עזרא, רד״ק, מלבי״ם].

The only remaining advice for the people is to actively seek God, as this is the sole path to survival [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. While the primary approach among commentators views this search as a broad call for general repentance and spiritual closeness, another perspective understands the request in a highly practical way. From this viewpoint, seeking God requires the concrete action of fulfilling the commandment to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem in order to pay one's vows [רש״י].
