The sheer scale of this invading army is compared to a heavy cloud covering the earth, illustrating a force so numerous that it visibly consumes the landscape.

The certainty of this future conflict is absolute, serving as a Divine promise that history will indeed culminate in this exact manner [מצודת דוד]. At the same time, it acts as a direct warning to the leader of this invasion. Gog is informed that he will be brought into existence at that specific time to face his punishment, and through this public defeat, his true identity and role will be exposed to all [מלבי״ם].

God is the ultimate architect of this gathering. He is the one who will stir Gog's heart, drawing him and his armies into the land. The primary approach among commentators is that the entire purpose of this war is to bring all nations to a clear realization of God. By executing public judgment upon Gog and orchestrating his downfall in full view of humanity, God will sanctify His great name. His absolute power and greatness will become undeniably known to the entire world.
