A direct divine confrontation unfolds against a powerful and terrifying leader. God turns His attention to Gog, the ruler of a massive nation that casts a dark shadow of dread over all its neighbors. The very name of his land, Magog, reflects this terror, conveying the concept of melting away. Surrounding populations simply melt in fear at the thought of his empire [אברבנאל].

God speaks directly to this formidable ruler [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. While this direct communication marks a personal confrontation, it also serves as a severe warning. God declares that He will actively orchestrate future events to bring about His revenge against this leader [אברבנאל].

Furthermore, Gog holds a specific historical title connecting him to the nations of Meshech and Tubal. Over time, these two groups migrated from their original homeland, wandering and eventually blending into other populations. Because of this, Gog does not actually govern them in the present day. Instead, his title points to his precise historical status. It indicates that he was their original leader who governed the heads of Meshech and Tubal at the dawn of their history, long before they ever left their land [אברבנאל].
