יחזקאל, פרק ח׳, פסוק ח׳

To uncover the secret activities taking place out of sight, God commands the prophet to take immediate action. He instructs him to dig into a small, existing hole in a wall to break through and widen it [רש״י, מצודת דוד, מצודת ציון, שטיינזלץ].

As he carries out this task within the prophetic vision, it appears to him that his own effort of digging is what actually forms a new opening [מלבי״ם]. Once the hole is expanded, a clear doorway is revealed. Looking through the newly widened space, the prophet spots an open entrance leading directly into a hidden chamber [רש״י, מצודת דוד].
