יחזקאל, פרק ח׳, פסוק ט׳

God pulls back the curtain on the hidden sins of the people, inviting the prophet to step inside and witness their actions firsthand. This instruction is a literal call to physically pass through the doorway and step into the concealed space [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Once inside, the prophet is confronted with offenses that are far worse and more shocking than the mere public display of an idol [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

He is exposed to a reality where the people of that generation had taken their idol worship into the dark, conducting their rituals in absolute secrecy. God lays bare their deepest secrets, making it seem as though the prophet himself had dug through the earth to uncover the entrance to their hidden sanctuary. By doing so, God exposes the private thoughts and hidden actions of a people who mistakenly believed their deeds would remain concealed forever [מלבי״ם].
