The detailed naming of the royal family members serves to formally introduce the brothers of the crown prince, Jehoram. These brothers, Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariahu, Michael, and Shephatiah, are specifically listed as the sons of Jehoshaphat [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

At the conclusion of this list, the father is given a title that presents a striking historical difficulty. He is referred to as the king of Israel, which is highly unusual since Jehoshaphat was distinctly a king of Judah, entirely separate from the northern kingdom of Israel. Despite this unexpected royal designation, there is a notable absence of early commentary explaining the reason behind this surprising title [חומת אנך].
