King Solomon's throne was a masterpiece of royal design, standing as a unique and magnificent structure. The approach to the seat consisted of a grand staircase of six steps. Twelve lions were positioned along these steps in a perfectly symmetrical arrangement, with six standing on one side and six on the other [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. In addition to the figures lining the steps, two more lions crafted from gold stood directly beside the armrests of the throne itself.
A more extensive description of the entire throne's shape, along with the various other animals that decorated it, is recorded in the translation of the Book of Esther [רש״י]. Ultimately, the sheer splendor of this royal seat was entirely unprecedented. A throne of such incredible beauty and detail had never been constructed for any other kingdom on earth [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
