At the height of his reign, King Solomon achieved a status never before seen among world leaders. He surpassed all other kings on earth in both wealth and wisdom. This extraordinary reality was not merely a political or economic victory, but the direct fulfillment of a promise God made to him early on.

When he first took the throne, Solomon asked God only for the wisdom to lead. In response, God assured him that because of this request, He would also grant him the exact things he did not ask for: vast riches and honor. The immense prosperity and deep intellect that ultimately defined his rule serve as the final proof that God completely kept His word [רש י].
