Maintaining this exclusive reverence means living directly under the care and guidance of God alone, without submitting to any other power or authority. Because of this unique relationship, a natural promise follows. When the people rely solely on God, He steps in to rescue them from their enemies, using His extraordinary care and direct involvement to protect His nation [מלבי״ם].
