ישעיהו, פרק מ״ב, פסוק ד׳

A true leader requires uncompromising physical and spiritual endurance to fulfill a divine mission. Despite facing early hardships or a lowly status, a genuine guide must remain steadfast to bring divine justice and knowledge to the entire world. Although this leader may initially appear humble, he will not remain weak or broken. Instead, he will stand firm and complete his task [שד״ל].

This endurance manifests in two distinct ways. Internally, his spirit, soul, and faith will never dim or weaken. Externally, his physical body will not be broken; he will not die prematurely, and no human force will be able to defeat him [אבן עזרא, מלבי״ם]. These unyielding qualities are the defining marks of the true Messiah, standing in sharp contrast to false messiahs whose bodies or spirits ultimately broke along the way, and whose faith failed to last [מלבי״ם].

The ultimate purpose of this unwavering endurance is to establish a moral foundation across the earth. This foundation is built on two pillars. The first is justice, which governs human behavior, general leadership, and the laws between people. The second is his teaching, which guides beliefs, commandments, and the service of God, serving as a prophetic revelation for all to learn from [מלבי״ם, אבן עזרא].

Ultimately, this leadership will have a profound global impact. The primary approach among commentators is that the entire world will be filled with knowledge, and all of humanity will listen to his voice. The leader will be so widely recognized and sought after that he will not need to make an effort to be heard. Instead, the inhabitants of the most distant lands will willingly wait and hope to learn from his ways. This deep, universal desire for his guidance will eventually lead to the worldwide recognition that God is one and His name is one.
