Ebed-melech departs from the inside of the royal palace, taking a deliberate and purposeful path. He sets his course toward the Gate of Benjamin, leaving the palace grounds behind.

He makes this journey with a clear goal in mind. He intends to approach the king directly so that he can speak with him.
