Joshua 17:7Sefaria

The division of the tribal lands relies on precise geographical borders that define the physical relationship between neighboring territories. The land assigned to the tribe of Manasseh is mapped out by tracing where it meets the lands of the tribes of Asher and Ephraim. The overall width of Manasseh's territory, measured from north to south, began at the border of the tribe of Asher, which was situated directly to the north

From that northern edge, the boundary continued to a specific location called Michmethath [רד״ק]. This place was positioned opposite the southwestern corner of Ephraim's land, directly facing the city of Shechem, which belonged to Ephraim [מצודת דוד]. A western strip of land owned by Ephraim extended into this area, reaching exactly to Michmethath. From there, the borderline traveled downward from north to south [מלבי״ם].

The boundary line, which initially ran from west to east along the northern edge, then took a diagonal turn to the right. It headed south until it reached the area populated by the inhabitants of En-tappuah [מצודת דוד]. Every piece of land enclosed within this specific border, stretching from the northern edge down to En-tappuah in the south, belonged completely to the tribe of Manasseh. Drawing the boundary in this exact manner established a clear separation between the main territory of Ephraim and the distinct cities located within Manasseh's land [מלבי״ם].
