The division of land between the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh involves a highly complex border system, uniquely featuring enclaves where one tribe's property sits entirely within another's territory. The shared boundary line descends from the region of the city of Tappuah toward the Kanah Brook [מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם]. South of this brook lie several specific cities. These towns, stretching from Tappuah to the water, belonged to the tribe of Ephraim, despite being physically situated among the cities of Manasseh. They were completely disconnected from Ephraim's main inheritance, functioning as isolated enclaves within Manasseh's land [מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

In sharp contrast to this mixed southern region, the land directly north of the Kanah Brook was the exclusive property of the tribe of Manasseh [מלבי״ם]. From that point, the boundary line continued its path until Manasseh's border finally ended at the sea [מצודת דוד].
