Following the successful conquest of the city, the Israelites gather the spoils of war. They collect the property and livestock found within the city walls, taking these items for themselves in strict accordance with the exact instructions they received.

God had issued specific orders for this campaign. While His explicit command required the death of the city's human inhabitants, He permitted the people to keep all the remaining animals and physical property. By taking the spoils, the Israelites act precisely as God directed, fulfilling His instructions without deviation.
