Psalms 50:10Sefaria

God holds absolute ownership over all of creation. He has no need for human offerings taken from private flocks and herds, as every creature ultimately belongs to Him. Even the wild animals roaming freely in nature, completely beyond human control or reach, are His property. In truth, any livestock a person claims to own is already owned by God

When considering the vast numbers of animals grazing across the mountains, the primary approach among commentators is that this refers to livestock scattered over an unimaginably large area. The number a thousand is not meant to be an exact count, but rather an expression of an enormous multitude of mountains and remote places that humans cannot even access Alternatively, some explain that the term often understood as a number actually means cattle or bulls. Under this understanding, the imagery shifts to mountains completely filled with cattle. This idea connects smoothly to the broader theme that God does not need to take a bull from a person's home, because the mountains are already filled with His own bulls

On a Midrashic level, the sages identify the beast in question not as ordinary cattle, but as a singular, massive mythological creature known as the wild ox, also recognized as the Behemoth from the book of Job. According to this tradition, this enormous animal grazes daily, consuming the grass of an entire thousand mountains, which then miraculously grows back every single day This wondrous creature was originally created as both male and female. However, to prevent them from multiplying and destroying the world with their immense size and power, God altered them so they could not reproduce. He now preserves this magnificent beast to serve as a special feast prepared for the righteous in the time to come [תורה תמימה].
