Psalms 50:2Sefaria

Jerusalem serves as the central focal point from which the Divine presence radiates outward to the entire world. Zion is recognized as a place of absolute perfection, encompassing every possible form of beauty Some even view it conceptually as a singular, magnificent jewel [רש״י]. God chooses to reveal Himself specifically from this location because of its unique physical and spiritual centrality. On a physical level, it is situated exactly in the middle of the populated world [אבן עזרא]. Spiritually, its beauty stems from its direct alignment with the heavenly Zion and the upper Temple, which acts as the gateway to heaven.

Although the entire earth belongs to God, He channels the abundance of His light and revelation specifically through Zion, using it as the primary source to project His presence to the rest of the globe This powerful manifestation is understood in two distinct but complementary ways. The first approach describes it as a brilliant shining or dawning, an awe-inspiring revelation of His glory and presence

In contrast, a second approach interprets this manifestation not as visual light, but as a loud, awakening cry echoing out from the city This Divine voice serves as a global summons, calling all the inhabitants of the earth to gather in Jerusalem for judgment, similar to the great war of Gog and Magog [רד״ק]. Ultimately, this penetrating call is meant to judge hypocrites, stripping away their falsehoods and exposing their wickedness for everyone to see [מלבי״ם].
