The absolute fall of Egypt is brought about by a severe military defeat at the hands of a cruel and merciless force. This devastating blow is delivered by the Chaldeans, the fierce army of King Nebuchadnezzar. The Babylonian king commands hardened soldiers who have already conquered numerous kingdoms, building Babylon into a massive empire [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. These invaders possess extreme strength and power [מצודת ציון], and every military unit taking part in the assault ranks among the strongest in the world [מצודת דוד].

These elite armies will crush the broad masses of the Egyptian population [מצודת ציון]. Beyond the widespread killing, the conquerors will oppress the nation [מצודת ציון] and strip away all of Egypt's pride. This loss of pride means the total dismantling of the Egyptian government and its ruling authority [מצודת דוד], along with the destruction of its national glory [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Ultimately, this brutal invasion will result in the complete destruction of the Egyptian masses.
