Altars dedicated to the stars and heavenly bodies were constructed directly inside the holy grounds of the Temple. This act brought foreign worship right into the very center of the sacred complex itself.

The primary approach among commentators is that this construction spanned the two main sections of God's courtyard. The altars were set up in the inner area, traditionally known as the Court of the Priests, as well as in the outer area, which served as the Court of the Israelites.
