The leaders of the nation actively supported the spiritual revival by contributing their own resources. The king's officials joined the effort, stepping forward with a generous freewill offering. While it might initially appear that this donation was distributed among the general public, the intention was highly specific. The officials directed their contribution entirely to the priests and Levites [מצודת דוד].

The leadership driving this initiative included Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, who served as the chief administrators responsible for managing the House of God. To ensure the priests could fully participate in the holiday, these leaders provided two thousand six hundred sheep and goats specifically for the Passover offerings, along with an additional three hundred cattle [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
