The placement of the Ark of the Covenant into its permanent home represents the climax of the Temple's construction. It is carefully brought into the innermost and most sacred section of the entire building, a location known as the Holy of Holies [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The original Hebrew name for this inner sanctum reflects a dual significance. First, it connects directly to the Ten Commandments engraved on the tablets kept inside the Ark. Second, it highlights the reality that the divine speech of God would emerge from this exact space [חומת אנך].

Within this sacred room, the Ark is positioned directly beneath the wings of the Cherubim. These particular figures were exceptionally large, designed to completely fill the interior space of the chamber [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
