Facing a severe famine, survival often requires the drastic measure of uprooting one's family to seek refuge elsewhere. As a wealthy woman, she possessed the financial resources necessary to relocate her household and escape the harsh realities of starvation [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

However, despite having the means, she would never have chosen to leave the Land of Israel on her own accord. Being a prominent figure, she carried a deep fear of being punished for abandoning the land during a crisis, remembering the tragic fate that befell Elimelech for making a similar choice. Her departure was entirely dependent on divine instruction. She uprooted her life and moved to a foreign land solely because she received an explicit command from the prophet [מלבי״ם].
