God's exact providence orchestrates human events to ensure that the merit of the prophet Elisha comes to the aid of the woman. At the precise moment she approaches the king, he is already engaged in conversation with Gehazi [מלבי״ם].

The king chooses to speak with Gehazi specifically because of his role as Elisha's personal servant and attendant. This position gave Gehazi close, firsthand knowledge of the prophet's deeds [שטיינזלץ]. During their talk, the king asks to hear about the great wonders and miracles that Elisha has performed.

The primary approach among commentators is that the king's request to hear about the entirety of these deeds is deliberate. He wants Gehazi to reveal the hidden or lesser-known miracles that have not yet reached the royal court, recognizing that there are many wonders he has not yet heard about [מלבי״ם, מצודת דוד].
