Previously, when a group of these soldiers found themselves vulnerable in Samaria, Elisha spared their lives, instructed the King of Israel to host a great feast for them, and ensured their safe return home. By sending this tribute, the King of Aram seeks to honor Elisha's high standing as a man of God and repay his earlier kindness [חומת אנך].
