The purification process requires careful attention to the animals brought for the ritual. As the stages of purification unfold, a direct connection is made to an earlier instruction regarding the offerings. Because two male lambs are brought for the overall procedure, a deliberate selection must take place. Rather than picking either animal at random, one specific lamb must be consciously singled out from the pair. This chosen lamb is then separated and exclusively dedicated to serve as the guilt offering [רד צ הופמן].
