אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־תַּשִּׂ֞יג יָד֗וֹ אֶת־הָאֶחָ֥ד חַטָּ֛את וְאֶת־הָאֶחָ֥ד עֹלָ֖ה עַל־הַמִּנְחָ֑ה וְכִפֶּ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן עַ֥ל הַמִּטַּהֵ֖ר לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

The purification process reaches its final stages with a careful consideration of the individual's changing financial circumstances. The priest brings sacrifices specifically tailored to the person's current financial reality, finalizing their atonement before God.

The primary approach among commentators [מלבי״ם, הכתב והקבלה] focuses on a situation where the individual was poor at the beginning of the purification process but gained wealth before bringing the final sin and burnt offerings. The underlying rule is that the type of sacrifice is always determined by the person's financial status at the exact moment of the offering. Therefore, if the person has acquired wealth, they must bring the sacrifice required of a wealthy individual, regardless of whether it results in a more lenient or strict requirement. The specific phrasing describing what the person can afford subtly hints at this addition to their property, indicating a recent increase in their overall wealth [הכתב והקבלה].

When addressing the birds brought for the sin and burnt offerings, the requirements demand exact matching. The two birds must form a single pair from the identical species, meaning the burnt offering must be brought from the exact same type of bird as the sin offering [מלבי״ם].

There are different perspectives regarding how these offerings relate to the accompanying meal offering. One approach suggests that the sacrifices are brought together with the meal offering [חזקוני, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Conversely, another view argues that the relationship is one of strict chronological order. According to this interpretation, the animal meal offering must be presented first, directly preceding the bird sin offering [מלבי״ם, אדרת אליהו]. Following this highly precise sequence, the priest performs the act of atonement on behalf of the individual, formally concluding the purification process before God [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
