As the returning families are counted, the tally for the family of Harim reaches one thousand and seventeen individuals. However, the name Harim appears earlier in the list, raising a natural question about who exactly is being counted the second time.

To resolve this duplication, [מצודת דוד] presents two ways to understand the record. One approach suggests that these are completely separate groups that simply happen to share the identical name. Alternatively, both entries might refer to the very same extended family, but the record divides them internally based on their roles. In this view, the earlier mention counts the ordinary Israelites within the family, while the later count is dedicated specifically to the priests who belong to the Harim family line.
