A defining turning point in the relationship between God and the people marks the end of a painful era and the dawn of lasting peace. After a period shaped by divine anger, a shift in direction occurs, triggered directly by the beginning of the construction of the Temple [מצודת דוד].

God promises that His actions toward the remaining people will no longer mirror the hardships of the past, bringing an end to the curse and divine anger that previously defined their existence [מלבי״ם]. In those earlier times, God brought distress upon the nation and caused people to turn against one another. This resulted in a fractured society, plagued by severe internal conflicts and threatened by enemies from both inside and outside [אבן עזרא, מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם].

Now, God's approach changes completely for the good. The external troubles and bitter internal divisions will finally stop. In their place, a new and deeply desired era will begin, characterized by absolute calm and peace throughout the land [אבן עזרא, מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
