In the heavenly realm, the cherubim and the wheels beside them move in absolute synchronization. Even though there is no visible physical connection linking them together, they operate seamlessly as a single entity. This principle of unified movement was already established in the prophet's very first vision [רד״ק].

Whenever the cherubim stand completely still, the wheels stop alongside them. When the living creatures rise into the air, the wheels rise right along with them [מצודת ציון]. The secret behind this absolute unity lies in the spirit that animates them. In this context, the spirit represents will or desire [מצודת ציון]. The inner will of the cherubim is fully embedded within the wheels. Because they share the exact same drive, the wheels function as an inseparable part of the living creatures. Every single action taken by the cherubim is immediately and flawlessly mirrored by the wheels [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
