וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה וְהִנֵּ֨ה אַרְבָּעָ֣ה אוֹפַנִּים֮ אֵ֣צֶל הַכְּרוּבִים֒ אוֹפַ֣ן אֶחָ֗ד אֵ֚צֶל הַכְּר֣וּב אֶחָ֔ד וְאוֹפַ֣ן אֶחָ֔ד אֵ֖צֶל הַכְּר֣וּב אֶחָ֑ד וּמַרְאֵה֙ הָא֣וֹפַנִּ֔ים כְּעֵ֖ין אֶ֥בֶן תַּרְשִֽׁישׁ׃

The divine chariot is revealed once again, drawing focus to the tight bond between the angels and the wheels that accompany them. The repetition of this vision serves a specific purpose: it confirms that this is the exact same chariot seen earlier, preventing any misunderstanding that a change in the figures' faces represents a completely new vision [רש״י]. However, the prophet's perspective has shifted. While the initial vision was perceived from the bottom up, reflecting God's natural guidance during the exile, this current vision is grasped from the top down. It expresses a supernatural guidance of destruction and rescue. Because of this shift, the figures that were previously described as living creatures walking on their feet are now identified as cherubs, defined by their wings and flight [מלבי״ם]. The profound, hidden meanings of this vision remain consistent with those established in the first prophecy [רד״ק].

The vision details a precise structure, placing exactly one wheel beside each cherub [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. This physical closeness carries deep significance regarding how God guides the world. The cherubs represent angels and spiritual forces, while the wheels symbolize the celestial bodies, stars, and the laws of nature. Their alignment reveals that the wheels move and function exclusively through the power of the cherubs. This illustrates that the impending destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple is not the result of blind fate, the stars, or an independent natural order. Instead, it is a direct act from God, where natural forces strictly follow the angels carrying out His will [אברבנאל]. Even when God's guidance is miraculous and breaks the laws of nature, the wheels remain bound to and directed by the cherubs [מלבי״ם].

The appearance of the wheels is compared to a precious stone [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Their specific color and hue [מצודת ציון] are described as a light blue [מצודת דוד], or a blend of white and light blue [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. This distinct visual reflects a state of absolute purity and clarity [אברבנאל].
